JOB PURPOSE:
Ice Cream is undergoing a transformation to make a simpler, faster, and focused organization. This transformation will accelerate performance improvement and strengthen capabilities to deliver its strategic priorities. We are looking for a highly skilled Logistics and Warehousing Engineering Manager to design and optimize our internal material handling and warehousing processes (Materials and Finished Goods). This role involves engineering solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety within the supply chain.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE?
This job asks for an expert in these areas in Ice Cream factories, they are essential for manufacturing the frozen products. As most of the IC factories operate big industrial installations the Logistics and Material Handling
Engineering Manager must have a deep expertise in installations, devices, and how can be optimized to reduce cost in a significant way and to make them safer, using creative innovative solutions for problem resolution, leveraging AI technologies where possible.
Process Optimization: Design and implement logistics and warehousing processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.Define the capital feasibility grade for each project.
Project Management: co-lead logistics engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget constraints.Bring the projects from feasibility grade to definition grade.
Data Analysis: Analyse logistics data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and distribution, to ensure seamless operations.Manage the communications internally in the working team and externally with key stakeholders
Technology Integration: Oversee the implementation of logistics software and systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) to enhance tracking and inventory management.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all logistics operations comply with industry regulations and safety standards.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor logistics engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers and service providers to negotiate contracts and ensure quality.
Technical gatekeeper for all Capex Projects involving Logistics and Material Handling: Business continuity is essential because ice cream is a product with highly varying sales volumes which often require short term availability of all production equipment and warehousing. Bring in outside in knowledge from the market. Then, capital expenditure requests from operations need to be technically evaluated, approved if okay or declined when not the right solution, technically not mature or not in line with long term plans.
Design and Development: supporting sites in all Logistic and Material Handling related questions. It’s part of the job to support new colleagues, integrate them into the network of technical experts, share experience and guide on the ways of working as well as on the proven technical solutions.
Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, forecasting resource needs and controlling costs.
Others: Support roll-out of initiatives on cost optimization and energy consumption reduction. Identify net productivity projects referred to the technology that can be deployed to the sourcing network. Create digital environment in managing the operations and maintenance to optimise cost and improve overall safety.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED, EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Professional skills:Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience in logistics engineering or supply chain management, with a focus on warehousing operations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in logistics software and data analysis tools.
Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of automation technologies in warehousing and logistics.
Good understanding of global suppliers’ capabilities and networks.
Travel: as per job requirement.
