Role Summary

As part of the Ice Cream factory team, the Utility Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and safety of all utilities-related equipment and systems. This position supports factory operations by maintaining compliance with Unilever’s safety, environmental, and quality standards while contributing to cost efficiency and continuous improvement across utility functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence: Operate and maintain utility systems in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, safe, and reliable service delivery.
• Safety Compliance: Strictly follow Unilever’s safety policies and guidelines at all times to ensure personal and team safety.
• Hazard Awareness: Identify and manage potential workplace hazards, complying with occupational health, safety, and environmental (SHE) standards.
• Environmental Stewardship: Execute utility operations in a way that minimizes environmental impact, including efficient use of energy, chemicals, and waste control.
• Product Quality Support: Work closely with production and QA teams to ensure utility systems support product quality and CRQS (Consumer Relevant Quality Standards). Promptly report and address any deviations.
• Ad-hoc Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in accordance with company policies.

Technical Skills (Utilities & Engineering)

The Utility Operator is expected to demonstrate technical knowledge and skills to safely support the factory's utility and engineering systems, with a focus on:

• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Execute planned and preventive maintenance schedules independently.
• Breakdown Repair: Respond swiftly to equipment failures and restore operations.
• Project Support: Assist with installation and project execution as per planning schedules.
• Process Safety Management (PSM): Ensure all utility systems comply with process safety protocols.
• Energy & Environmental Management: Monitor energy usage and implement actions for environmental sustainability.
• Facility Maintenance: Conduct maintenance activities related to buildings and infrastructure.

​Mechanical & Technical Proficiency

• Demonstrate core mechanical knowledge and technical skills to support safe and efficient utility operations.
• Act as a single-skilled technician specializing in utility systems and mechanical movement.
• Proficient in preventive and condition-based maintenance techniques.
• Support business KPIs through effective problem-solving and system reliability.
