Location of Job: Independence, MO (Union)

D Shift: 7:00 pm- 7:30 am ( Thurs, Fri, Sat and every other Weds)

Pay Rate – $23.41 with an additional $1.00 shift differential | Weekly pay periods

    The Quality Support Associate supports routine production as well as product non-conformance and innovation. This role reports to the Quality Supervisor.

    Who You Are & What You’ll Do

    The Quality Support Associate is responsible for performing inspections, analyses, audits and documentation reviews to ensure the safe, high-quality supply of dry savory food products, from material receipt until finished product distribution.

    • Perform all lab analysis according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Standard Lab Methods.

    • Check and calibrate all equipment according to the defined schedule.

    • Record results from analysis on designated forms or logbook and in computer databases.

    • Participate in refresher training and auditing of lab methods in other business units.

    • Maintain the laboratory in a clean and orderly manner daily.

    • Labels samples and reviews samples for color, texture and smell.

    • Dispositions product in the computer system upon completion of testing.

    • Delivers samples to appropriate area for testing and retains pre-shipment samples in a retention library.

    • Initiates one time salt and sensory testing/disposition of mixes.

    • Print and stage Finished product Weight sheets for following shift

    • Initiate Finished Cook-ups- a minimum of 2 lines per shift

    • Support and engage in all 5S improvements in laboratory

    • Prep swab kits and associated paperwork for changeovers occurring around shift change or on the following shifts.

    • Compares Certificate of Analysis to company specifications and accepts or rejects material according to company specifications.

    • Rotates and disposes of all ingredient samples after expiration of shelf life

    • Follows all LOTO requirements for QA duties (swabs, and inspections)

    • Produces and maintains vendor scorecards for monthly quality reviews.

    • Maintains records of vendor discrepancies and files for bills of lading.

    • Properly matches Certificate of Analysis criteria with acceptable specifications.

    • Update specification book when new ingredients or any specifications change.

    • Show exemplary behaviors by being a role model for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

    • Complete QA data entry using computer programs such as Excel, Unilab, and SAP.

    • Provide expertise to business units in troubleshooting quality-related problems.

    • Perform audits on equipment, material, product and procedures.

    • Manage inventory of chemicals and lab testing supplies for the Quality Assurance laboratory.

    • Communicate detailed summary of incident and actions taken to departments affected and concerned, i.e. production, distribution, scheduling, etc.

    • Present information clearly and concisely.

    • Support and participate in safety activities to achieve departmental and plant wide goals and objectives.

    • Cross training to support other QA duties as needed.

    • Adhere to all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.

    What You’ll Need To Succeed

    • A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

    • Related manufacturing quality assurance processing experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

    • Computer literacy is required.

    •  Team work.

    •  Proactiveness.
