MAIN JOB PURPOSE
The Innovation and Change QA is the Quality champion for facilitating and supporting innovation (raw material, packaging material, new product, process, manufacturing line, machine and system) defined to be implemented in the site. Whenever these projects are identified the Innovation and Change QA initiates the MoC (Management of Change), facilitates the Technical Risk Assessment together with the required cross functional team and provides the necessary documentation to ensure the flawless execution of the project and sustainable operation for the site.


The Innovation and Change QA is technically competent, qualified, skilled and capable to conduct technical risk assessments, represents the site to the cross functional team (Production, Engineering, Quality, R&D and Planning) involved in the facilitation of the change. Knowledge and skill on the process, materials and QMS are required to dynamically enable or carry out the necessary changes without compromising Product Quality and Consumer Safety.


The Innovation and Change QA actively works with the Sourcing Unit Innovation Team, R&D, Procurement, Production and Projects Team in ensuring flawless execution of innovation projects. The position is expected to deliver leadership in the shopfloor, provision of visual line controls, and guidance to the machine operators.


The Innovation and Change QA is responsible for providing regular analysis of E Incidents, RCA on EA, EB and EC rejections from Suppliers, COA Analysis, 3P lab annual analysis for products, SKU reference for new products and innovations, TRA and design phase HACCP control plan and works closely with the site Hygienist on cleaning and allergen validation for new products and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the tracking Key Performance Indicators of the site related to Innovation and new processes.

  • Participate in the cross functional team composed of representatives from Production, R&D, Planning and SUIT in the conduct of Technical Risk Assessment for defined NPIs, projects and new processes.

  • Develops training, guidance documents and visual controls on new processes, and new product innovations

  • Facilitates the Management of Change for any new product, new material and new processes implemented in the site and ensure that all changes are communicated, documented, and cascaded accordingly.

  • Reviews SAP QM and specification of NPIs and new materials for use for quality and food safety purposes.

  • Facilitate the verification of category / technology GMP as applicable to the site.

  • Facilitates the inbound skip lot sampling review based on the quality consistency of incoming raw and packaging materials and regularly review the Inbound Quality Process as well as Supplier performance of new materials.

  • Facilitates the quality definition of new products and materials through the development of CRQS and identification of critical to quality parameters.

  • Supports BTR and participates in Pre-Production Meetings.

  • Facilitates the SPC analysis of new materials to determine machinability as well as NPIs.

Quality and Consumer Safety

  • Fully operational on the UQP, URIC Quality Management System, FSSC 22000, T5Z, and FFZ procedures and protocols.

  • Supports the implementation of UL Quality Management System, FSSC 22000, Top Five for Zero and the Fit For Zero protocols to ensure consumer safety and overall quality of the final product manufactured in the site especially for new product innovation and new processes.

  • Conducts verification of site compliance to the UL QMS, HACCP and Category GMP through internal audits and quality deep dive activities together with the Quality Engineer.

  • Conducts investigation with the Supplier on EA, EB and EC incidents and develop sustainable improvements on Supplier Quality.

  • Develops site specific standard operating procedures and work instructions that supports the consistent implementation of the UL QMS, Food Safety Program and other applicable standards

  • Maintains SKU references and develops visual controls on CCPs, OPRPs, QCPs and other Quality guides to support the launch of new products and implementation of new processes.

  • Supports ensuring that quality and food safety related pamaters are considered in the technical risk assessment, design HACCP and Batch Trial Runs.

  • Develops training modules on product quality and CRQS to techncial operators and shopfloor personnel with the aim to ensure alignment with defined quality of new prodcut innovations

  • Identifies digital transformation projects for Quality and executes the same to facilitate continual improvement of the Innovation and Improvement process

  • Provides technical inputs on the Annual Food Fraud Assessment and works with the Food Safety Team to translate these inputs into actionable programs.

World Class Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement

  • Fully operational on World Class Manufacturing principles and co-leads the Quality Pillar together with the Site QA Lead.

  • Targets quality, waste and cost improvement through the use of WCM and QM tools and collaborating with production on the execution of the defined improvements.

  • Utilizes critical thinking to innovate current processes and establish standard parameters for new product innovation and new processes

Safety, Health and Environment

  • Respects and follow all safety, health and environment rules, procedures and protocols related to the operations in the site.

  • Understands the legal responsibility relevant to safety, health and environment as well as its implications to the scope of the job

  • Conducts Safety Behavioral Observations focusing on Safe / Unsafe Acts and Conditions noted within the site as part of daily routine.

  • Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it. Utilize all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.

Leadership

  • Uphold the development of a highly effective and strong quality and innovation team through robust and effective communication.

  • Leads by example and provides guidance to manage conflicts, goals and targets.

Coaching

  • Provides guidance to in-line and inbound quality team and operators during the facilitation of new product innovation and processes via regular meetings and discussions.

  • Shares knowledge and technical expertise to the team.

Problem Solving

  • Fully operational knowledge on identifying, prioritizing and providing full quality and food safety view on Technical Risk Assessments for New Product Innovation and New Processes.

  • Uses appropriate tools and prioritization techniques in providing solution to noted quality and consumer safety issues on NPIs and New Processes.

  • Analyses complex data and assigns into quality loss trees while applying correct methods to ensure proper calibration and interpretation of results as input to problem resolution noted during Main Plant Trials and Risk Assessments.

Decision Making

  • Fully operational on how to identify, prioritize and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques identified during the Technical Risk Assessments and execute the same to address the noted concern.

  • Demonstrates initiative to handle quality and consumer safety related decisions in coordination with the site Category QA.

  • Makes technical decisions to support the quality team working at in-bound material assessment by providing documented SOPs and training.

  • Works under limited supervision and has some freedom to arrange order of duties other than routine quality tasks.

Project Management

  • Attains the required output and targets of the defined quality improvement projects given the agreed timelines.

  • Uses appropriate project management tools and techniques to ensure efficient use of technical, financial, and human resource

Business Acumen

  • Understands the need to meet the changing demands of consumers and the impact of quality and food safety on consumer buying decisions.

  • Supports the growth strategies of the business through the facilitation of new product innovation and process changes together with SUIT and R&D.

  • Develops improvement projects based on the DVOC feedback and conducts monthly analysis on DVOC, engages the Quality Engineer and Category QA on driving improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Technology

  • Fully operational problem solving and data analysis skills

  • Presentation skills (well versed in MS Office and Power Apps)

  • Reading, comprehension, and communication skills

  • Working knowledge in WCM, TPM, HACCP and FSSC 22000

  • Manufacturing experience in FMCG

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Chemical Engineer

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Safety, Legislation, Company Policies and Procedures – fully operational understanding of regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures affecting innovation and change activities of QA.

  • Focus improvement – has the ability to identify, prioritize and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Working with team - demonstrates excellent personal standards that are reflected in the quality of contribution to the team; empowers team members to engage and discuss issues and share ideas; uses effective communication skills to describe problems and solutions

  • Quality based product inspection – ensures that all aspects of Quality are in accordance with agreed Quality standards based on regular and stringent quality inspection

  • Quality based process control – ensures that all aspect of Quality is in accordance with agreed Quality standards based on effective process control

  • Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL

  • 5 years in quality or manufacturing

PREFERRED

  • Fresh university graduate or people coming from other disciplines, will undergo 18-24 months development program to reach Full Competency.
