Job Purpose
As the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business, you will report to the ANZ General Manager and sit on the Leadership Team. Your role will be to work with cross-functional teams to establish the reputation of The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC), while protecting its license to operate and building resilience through advocacy and partnerships in the Australian and New Zealand market. As TMICC prepares to separate from Unilever, this is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, innovative team and be part of shaping the future of Ice Cream.

Key Responsibilities:
Empower cross-functional team to land TMICC vision and impact with consumers, customers and partners.
Support all teams and functions (Customer Development - Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D etc) to land the new company vision and strategy in tenders, strategy sessions, external engagements.
Develop, execute and lead community impact initiatives to bring TMICC vision to life – Make life taste better with Ice Cream.
Coach and equip leaders to land the TMICC narrative with impact and confidently advocate for our sustainable business agenda.
Establish reputation of TMICC in ANZ market
Understand and navigate ANZ media and influencer landscape to identify opportunities to share TMICC’s growth story among key audiences including Government, NGO’s Business, influencers, activists and consumers.
Proactively source, storymine and develop content and key messages to drive TMICC’s growth story; develop robust brieifing materials for spokespeople and senior executives ahead of external engagements; and respond to media enquiries.
Support functions with mandatory reporting, including but not limited to Modern Slavery, AASB S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related FinancialInformation, and mandatory AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures. Note, in 2024 TMICC will continue to be included in Unilever reporting but from 2025, TMICC will need to report as a separate entity so any experience in climate reporting will be highly valued.
Partner externally with not-for-profit partners, key opinion formers, industry bodies and public relations and media monitoring agencies in Australia & New Zealand.
Protect license to operate, deliver savings, and unlock efficiencies through advocacy & connectivity.
Understand policy areas important to TMICC and lead strategic consultation on business critical legislative and regulatory agendas such as Australia’s packaging reform, scope 3 emissions, nutrition and preventative health.
Help drive delivery against sustainability goals throughout the business by advocating for policy and systems change and identifying relevant grant programmes.
Co-ordinate with cross-functional colleagues and drive best-practice issues and crisis management to minimise impact of issues and emerging risks and protect reputation.
Partner with HR and wider team to deliver seamless internal communications programme and ensure a thriving culture in newly established company.
What you will need to succeed?
Experiences & Qualifications
Be a self starter. There will be minimal direction given in this role, you need to take initative and be comfortable working independently. You need to be highly motivated and show leadership in determining how best to support the business in achieving its objectives.
Be an experienced trusted advisor to senior executives.
Have experience in managing sensitive and complex issues to minimise reputational impact.
Demonstrate outstanding written and communication skills.
Proven media relations experience, including digital media and digital content development (website & community management a bonus).
Understanding of key policy issues relevant to Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)industry, including external stakeholder management, and the ability to formulate corporate position on topical issues.
Have experience in developing and implementing internal communications strategies.
5+ years experience in Communications and Corporate Affairs - either in house or agency/consultancy.
Experience in large Fast Moving Consumer Goods, helpful but not essential.
Proven track record of project management in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Professionally or academically acquired knowledge of corporate affairs and sustainability, eg. University degree.
