Location: Hofplein, Rotterdam, NL (occasionally from Weena or Wageningen)

THE VEGETARIAN BUTCHER

Meat to please you! We’re looking for new ‘meat on the block’ to join us in our mission to become the biggest Butcher in the world, by unleashing all animals from the food chain.

Over ten years ago, on October 4th (world animal day) Jaap Korteweg, 9th generation farmer and meat lover, founded The Vegetarian Butcher. Together with a devoted team of chefs and scientists he created innovate and sustainable meat successors directly from beans and legumes. Great tasting meat products, perfect i-meat-ations in flavor, texture and juiciness, but without the use of the animal. Over the past years, we have launched in many markets across the globe, across channels. We have succeeded in showing many meat lovers that they don’t have to miss out when simply switching animal meat for our plant-based meat. We have hacked many meaty icons, including the Whopper at Burger King. Did you know 1 in 4 Whoppers sold in Germany is now plant-based? We want to step up our game even further in the next years, with ambitious growth targets, and further integrate our marketing initiatives into one cross-channel marketing team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will have the job to lead The Vegetarian Butcher’s presence beyond the retail channel: with our QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) partners, like Burger King, in the Food Service channel, and in some DTC (Direct to Consumer) initiatives. You will be a part of the Masterbrand team, driving one integrated marketing strategy across channels. Working closely together with the QSR CD teams on deals and customer specific marketing initiatives. Strengthening our relationship and boosting performance at key customers, with unmissable campaigns. You play an important role in further integrating our Butcher’s Marketing strategy across channels. Making our brand unmissable across channels.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE?

The role of The Vegetarian Butcher Channel Marketeer leads all marketing activities in the Food Service Channel, alongside supporting in some DTC initiatives. Leading QSR campaigns, ensuring seamless execution by our main partners, and fully on Brand. Our partnerships have been successful, due to a big cross-functional team, with an extraordinary growth-mindset. Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential when working together with different parties. This role requires a strong consumer and customer mindset, the ability to view challenges from a consumer, customer and chef’s perspective. As Channel Marketeer, you will play a key role in our FS and QSR performance, as well as in further shaping our future as one integrated brand and team. You will report to the Masterbrand Marketing Manager.

  • QSR: including Burger King, Domino’s, Subway, and more.

    • Counterpart for CD when it comes to pitching for new customers, customer engagement and activation. Involved in creating the Business Case.

    • Lead activation with existing customers: general awareness campaigns, trial, PR, and point of sales at their restaurants. Oversee asset creation at customer side. Owner of B&MI, which is a part of the customer pitch and contract.

    • Managing QSR customer counterparts and fostering long-term marketing relationships, in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

    • Travel occasionally, to QSR chain head offices, mainly in Europe and potentially conferences across the Globe.

  • C&C (Cash & Carry) and DTC (Direct to Consumer): partner of Brand Manager UFS.

THE QUALITIES WE LOOK FOR

What are we looking for in a Butcher to join our team?

  • Commitment to and participation in the biggest food revolution of all times. Not just at work, you’ll be a butcher in life!

  • Passionate about our mission, food, and our products.

  • Experience in the Food Service or OOH channel is a pre: understanding what it takes to lead marketing initiatives in this channel.

  • Proven track record in activation and campaigns, including PR, digital, OOH, POSM. Able to develop and launch campaigns. Judge effective PR campaigns. Create talkable campaign plans which will generate maximum “bang for our buck”.

  • Customer confidence and understanding: you feel confident presenting before customers, pitching ideas, and you understand the dynamics.

  • Putting the consumer and customer first: truly driving performance with and through our QSR customers.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, knowing how to manage and influence a broad group of stakeholders (internal and external), with many interaction points.

  • Integrated mindset: understands the bigger picture and can work towards unified brand goals.

  • Growth mindset has led to our current success. We are looking for someone who is pro-active, looks for opportunities, and has a can-do mentality.

  • Hands on and pragmatic. Comfortable in finding and operating in new processes and adapting to changing conditions.

  • Resilient: able to handle challenges with a positive attitude.
