BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Beauty & Wellbeing is a powerhouse business playing in the dynamic categories of Hair Care and Skin Care with our iconic global brands like Dove, TRESemme, SheaMoisture, Nexxus, Vaseline and Dove Men+Care.
This role leads the B&W Performance & Portfolio Management pillar. This leader is responsible to drive the business performance by end-to-end integrated leadership and thinking to tie all functions together for holistic business delivery and decision making.This is the link between Demand Creation and Customer Strategy & Planning – while all functions (CS&P, Demand Creation, Supply Chain, Finance, CBD, CMI etc.) will continue to contribute in their own functional expertise, the performance pillar will synergize it all together to ensure they functional efforts are converging together to deliver ONE total Business Unit / Category ambition & performance targets.This role is not responsible for Customer Strategy & Planning or Demand Creation – this is a Performance led role, focused on delivering business results and driving category growth.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE?:
E2E Business & Performance Management:
Leading functional connectivity to ensure functional plans are complementing one another and are not silo-ed.
Manage the interface between the Demand Creation and CS&P teams, ensuring both functions are delivering at the speed and quality required to win in the market
Deliver the right performance signals to Demand Creation and CS&P to understand if the trade & BMI investment plans are successful or not
Category Competitiveness & Growth:
Unilever vs. Competitor share monitoring to understand insights and clearly identify issues & opportunities.
Continuously assess market dynamics to provide CSP and MKT teams with category/brand opportunities
Performance analysis to inform growth plans and pivots needed to deliver growth plans
S&OP and P&L Management:
Manage business fundamentals: USG, GM, UOP, UOM, Competitiveness
Manage in year target delivery and P&L management
Note: While the “analysis” sits with this team, the delivery of business fundamental is owned by all functions.
Leads business operations to provide accurate and efficient S&OP process in collaboration with SC and Finance
Ensuring business investment (Trade & BMI) areutilized most effectively based on performance signals
Portfolio Management:
Innovation Management:
Owning Canada business cases and get local approvals
Representing Canada portfolio needs and inputs in the NA Investor Board
Innovation performance tracking
Ensuring Canada retail needs are communicated to the NA Innovation leads
Design 4 Channel:
Identifying opportunities based on channel trends and data with CS&P support
Creating and owning D4C business cases and ensuring NA IB clearance with SC support
“Portfolio Transformation”:
Opportunities: channel opps, format opps (particular sizes that are growing), distribution opps, listing gaps, customer opps etc.
Profitability:
Cost Transformation with support from the NA Cost Transformation team
Net Revenue Management
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?:
- You a seasoned general manager with a proven track record of leading categories and/or business units to deliver USG, profitability and market share targets
- You have excelled in businessperformance management, portfolio management and SOP management roles and have delivered with excellence
- You have significant experience in leading and owning P&L Management across all metrics (topline, profit, trade and marketing investment)
- You are an end-to-end leader:You are an end to end thinker – strategic thinker and execution powerhouse. You have an understanding of key functions like Marketing, Innovation Management, Customer Strategy, Finance, Supply Chain, dComm Performance Management – so you are able to connect the dots on business performance impact
- You have owned Innovation management – led and delivered localization of innovation strategy and consumer trendsinto country business cases and have experience in innovation performance tracking across all key financial and consumer metrics
- You have unlocked P&L value by focusing on profit improving initiatives such as savings programs in partnership with SC – or net revenue management with trade
- You have a clear vision to grow the category and are thinking 3 steps ahead to win vs. competition
- You are a strategic long term thinker but have a strong grip on the business operations and short term business delivery
- You care deeply about performance results and are able toidentify issues & opportunities and pivot quickly to create an action plan
- You are analytical and can convert data into insights
- You have been a senior business or a functional leader and have been on Leadership Teams
- You are a strong people manager and have coached and mentored senior managers.
- Lastly and most importantly, you are AMBITIOUS, DRIVEN, COMPETITIVE and a complete WINNER!
