JOB PURPOSE

The Global Nutrition and Ice Cream R&D Digital & Data capability is the central team in Division R&D to enable and lead the digital transformation of our organisation. Our core expertise area and responsibility are to provide the systems expertise and user solutions to drive data quality in our core ingredient and product specifications. Increasingly, we are also strengthening our capability in data engineering, visualisation, data analytics and data science to extract the maximum value from data we have and use data to support the in-silico design agenda. The capability team is working closely together with many teams across Nutrition & Ice Cream R&D.

For the Global Nutrition and Ice Cream R&D Digital & Data capability team we are looking for a Senior Data Analyst; someone with strong data analytics expertise and a passion and flair for getting and communicating information from data to strengthen our team. You will be a member of the D&D Capability team, co-located between Wageningen (NL) and Colworth (UK); which is a diverse team (age, experience, background, nationalities) driving Digital Transformation in Unilever Nutrition & Ice Cream R&D.

The key features of this role are to monitor the quality of data we have in the digital systems and use that data to create user friendly solutions (e.g. reports, dashboards, tools, apps). These

solutions will need to be maintained and evolve over time or will be one-off bespoke solutions for

targeted queries from various business partners.

In this role you will liaise with business partners in many Unilever functions to build the

requirements for the front-end, collect the data and build the data model, and present the

results to them and to wider audiences at meetings, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collection of data from multiple sources including SAP PLM (tapping into the R&D Datalake), existing Power BI datasets, and individual datasets provided by business partners.
• Validating underlying data used by the division in the core data sources, and any bespoke datasets used in our reports.
• Lead End-to-End project delivery focused on data extraction, dashboard/tool creation as well as drive tool adoption to facilitate strides towards becoming a data-driven organization.
• Actively identify opportunities to develop/optimize solutions to drive our Data Analytics strategy with maximum business impact.
• Liaising with the System Expertise & User Solutions data squads to update data in the core systems such that Nutrition & Ice Cream data is complete with a clear aim that reporting becomes a routine process.

ABOUT YOU

EXPERIENCE:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
• 3-5 years experience and practice in data management, data quality verification, data visualization, and data integration.
• Experience with data visualization and dashboard tools.
• Balanced profile of functional business knowledge/understanding and data/analytics expertise: preferred experience in Foods R&D or Supply Chain environment.

SKILLS:

• Critical thinking and flexibility to work effectively around technical and business constraints.
• Solid experience in data visualization, design, development, and implementation of front-end (e.g., dashboards and web front-ends).
• Applied experience in Visual Analytics Platforms like Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong knowledge in designing efficient, robust, and automated data pipelines and ETL workflows.
• SAP PLM: usage knowledge and expertise and associated data portals to extract data.
• SAP PLM: understands data standards in building hierarchies and specification contents.
• Experience using R or Python desirable but not essential.
• Data Engineering expertise are a bonus.

• Ability to communicate data expertise work in “different languages” based on target audience: stakeholders, experts, R&D community.
